Halal Tortillas with Spicy Chocolate Sauce Recipe

Toss tortilla wedges with melted butter. Sprinkle with ¼ cup sugar and place on a half-sheet pan. Bake for 15 minutes. Remove from the oven and set aside.

  • 5 ounces halal-certified semisweet chocolate (roughly chopped)
  • ¾ cup halal-certified sugar (divided)
  • 1 pinch of halal-certified salt
  • 3 halal-certified egg yolks (beaten)
  • 1 halal-certified habanero chilli (seeded and minced)
  • 12 halal-certified wheat flour tortillas (each cut into 10 wedges)
  • ½ cup halal-certified unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 Tbsp freshly-squeezed halal-certified orange juice
  • 2 tsp halal-certified vanilla extract
  1. Preheat oven to 145°F.
  2. Toss tortilla wedges with melted butter. Sprinkle with ¼ cup sugar and place on a half-sheet pan.
  3. Bake for 15 minutes. Remove from the oven and set aside.
  4. Heat an inch of water in a large saucepan to a simmer. Place a halal-certified stainless steel bowl that hangs over the edges on top.
  5. Remove bowl from pot and add halal-certified egg yolks, whisking continuously, and place back on top of the pot. Cook, whisking continuously, until eggs fall off the whisk in a ribbon.
  6. Add halal-certified chocolate, chilli, halal-certified orange juice, remaining halal-certified sugar, and halal-certified vanilla extract. Cook, whisking continuously, until chocolate is melted and all ingredients are heated through.
  7. Drizzle the halal-certified spicy chocolate sauce over the halal-certified tortillas and serve warm. Enjoy!
