Halal Durian with Sticky Rice Recipe

Rinse the glutinous rice with water until the water runs clear. Then, soak the rice in water for at least 30 minutes.
Drain the water and place the rice in a steamer. Add a pinch of salt and steam the rice for about 20-25 minutes, or until fully cooked.
- 1 kg glutinous rice
- A pinch of salt
- 1 durian (make sure it is Halal)
- 500 ml Halal coconut milk
- 300 g Halal sugar
- 2 screwpine leaves (or pandan paste)
- Rinse the glutinous rice with water until the water runs clear. Then, soak the rice in water for at least 30 minutes.
- Drain the water and place the rice in a steamer. Add a pinch of salt and steam the rice for about 20-25 minutes, or until fully cooked.
- While the rice is steaming, prepare the durian sauce. Remove the durian flesh and make sure it is Halal. In a pot, combine the durian flesh, Halal coconut milk, Halal sugar, salt and screwpine leaves. Mix well.
- Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Once it starts to boil, lower the heat and let it simmer until the sauce thickens.
- Once the rice is fully cooked, remove it from the steamer and let it cool down for a few minutes.
- To serve, scoop some rice onto a plate and top it with the durian sauce. Serve hot and enjoy!
